Adding and Removing Custom Pages

Creating custom pages can help you make your site unique for your users and guests. SocialEngine Cloud provides you tools that make the process simple to create custom pages and add them to your menu.

Just how simple is it?

With a simple click of a button, you can start a custom page. Simply drop in your HTML code and, VOILA! You have a working page. Another click and poof, it’s on the menu! Don’t worry, we’ll go into a lot more detail below.

Wait! Hold on...HTML?

Pages are formatted better if they have some HTML added to them. It’s really not as hard as you might think to spice things up a tad. You can find some great tutorials at CodeCademy to get you started..

Ok, HTML wasn’t as bad as I thought. So how do I add the page?

Once you know what you want on the page, whether it’s your own special HTML or perhaps widget code from another site, follow this tutorial to create the page. The bottom tutorial to add it to the menu is optional.

Creating a Page

  1. In your Admin Panel, toward the bottom of the left menu you’ll see the Appearance Category. Under that, you’ll see the Page Templates menu. Click that.
  2. On your right you’ll now see the pages for your site. At the top right of this screen, you’ll find the Add New Template button. Clicking that button will create a new page for your site. Click it now and we’ll move on to the magic that’ll put the page content on your new page.
  3. Add the Title, URL, Code and then click Save New Template when done. When adding the code, be sure to put it between the existing “script” tags as we show in our image.

Alrighty! You just created your page. Awesome work! However, it’s not added to the menu yet. To do that, follow these steps. You should already be in the Page Templates area from the previous steps but if not, just repeat Step 1 to get there.

Adding a Menu for Your Page

  1. Look down the list for the new page you just made. It should be near the bottom of the list.
  2. Once you find the new page, click the menu drop down and select which menu you want it on. Our screenshot shows the Main Menu option.
  3. If you need to arrange the new menu up or down the list, just drag the page from the left to re-order it where you need it to be.

Removing a Menu for Your Page

To remove a menu, please follow these steps:
  1. Find the page for the menu you want to remove.
  2. To the right of the page, click the drop down for the Menu
  3. At the top of the list of menus in the dropdown, you will see a blank space. Click that to select the blank space.
  4. You’ll see a popup asking you to confirm that you want to remove the menu. Click “Save Changes” and the menu will delete.
