SocialEngine gives you some great tools for member management. This tutorial will show you how to manage members, invites, and download your member list.
All of the members on your site, whether they join via standard email registration or by social integrations, are found in one central location, the “Members” area. To get to the member manager, go to Manage > Members. You’ll know you’re there when you see a list of members to the right.
For easier sorting, you can click each column heading to change the sort order. In the screenshot below, we chose to sort by “Posts”.
Searching for members is done via the search box at the top of the member list. Enter a member’s name or email and hit “Enter” to search for members that fit the criteria.
You can see details for each member such as: “Name”, “Contact Email”, “Social Connections”, “Posts”, “Comments”, “Points”, “Followers”, “Following”, “Page Views”, “Flags” and “Last Active” for each member.
Clicking the name of a member will bring you to their front end profile. To email the member, click their email address which will open your mail program to email the user from your own personal email. If a member has connected to a social media site such as Facebook, Twitter, etc, you can click that button to go to their page on that site.
If you need to edit a member’s details, you can do that by clicking the “edit” button for that member.
This will open the full edit screen seen below where you can change the “Name”, “Email”, “Password”, “Approve”, “Feature”, “Member Level”, and even “Delete” the member. If you make any changes, be sure to “Save Changes”.
There are two ways to delete members. One was mentioned above in the member “Edit” screen. Another way to delete members is on the member list screen where you can click in the box next to each member you want to delete and then choose “Delete Selected”. If you have a lot of members you want to delete all at once, you can also choose all by clicking in the box at the top left of the list.
To invite members, click the “Invite New People” button and a popup will open.
In the popup, add your list of emails, separated by a comma and click “Send Invites”.
You can keep track of “Invite Requests” (people that are asking to join), “Invites Sent”, “Invites Accepted” by clicking the top menu tabs. The screenshot below shows the “Invites Sent” tab.
In the Members page, you can download your member list by clicking the “Download Member List” button.
This will download a .csv format list of your members which includes: “First Name”, “Last Name”, “Email”, “Posts”, “Comments”, “Points”, “Followers”, “Following”, “Page Views”, “Flags”, “Last Login” and “Created At”.
