Adding Google Analytics to Your Site

Google Analytics can be a great way to monitor the traffic for your website. SocialEngine Cloud provides an easy way for you to add Google Analytics to your site. Follow our easy guide below to get tracking your site visitors and stats!

How to Set Up a Google Analytics Account:

If you already know how to get your Google Tracking ID, please feel free to skip to the last section. If you don’t have a Google Analytics account, please follow the steps below once signed in to your Google account.

  1. Sign up for an Analytics Account.
  2. Choose “Website”. 
  3. Fill in the Account Name you want to use for this. 
  4. Fill in your Website Name. 
  5. Enter your URL for your website. 
  6. Choose an “Industry Category” that best matches your website niche. 
  7. Choose your “Reporting Time Zone”. 
  8. Choose the “Data Sharing Settings” you want enabled or disabled. 
  9. Click “Get Tracking ID”. 
  10. You’ll now be on the main page of your Analytics account and the tracking ID will be in the center of the page. 
  11. Copy the Tracking ID to use in your Admin Control Panel. We’ll show you where to put it later in this tutorial.

Where Do I Get My Tracking ID?

If you already have an Analytics account, or forgot to copy your code from the account you created above, we’ll show you how to get your ID now.

  1. Log into your Analytics account.
  2. Select the “Admin” menu tab. 
  3. Select an Account and a Property. 
  4. Under the “Property” column, choose “Tracking Info” >> “Tracking Code”. 
  5. This will open the information to your right and will show your Tracking ID as shown in section one, step 10, of this tutorial.
  6. Note that you can test your tracking with the “Send Test Traffic” which will appear next to your Tracking ID. We suggest to do this after adding the Tracking ID to the setting in your Admin Control Panel shown below.

Enabling Google Analytics on Your Site

  1. In your SocialEngine Admin Panel navigate to Settings > General Settings.
  2. Scroll down until you see the "Google Analytics ID" option. Enter your Google Analytics ID that you copied above and click “Save Changes.”
