When certain events happen, the system can automatically send out an email and notification to the members it affects. For example, if someone comments on an activity post that I have made on the activity feed, I can choose to receive an email notification letting me know when and who commented on which of my posts.
To access the “Default Email Notifications” page, you will need to be logged in to the Admin Panel. You can then go to Setting > Default Email Notifications.
The “Default Email Notifications” page has the available notifications organized into different sections. The SocialEngine software, by default, comes with the “General” section. If you have installed some of our SocialEngine plugins, you may have a few more sections such as “Blogs”, “Events”, “Forums”, “Groups”, and “Videos”.
Emails will be sent to the member's email address provided with the account, and notifications can be seen at the top of the page as an "Update". The settings here only control emailed notifications and do not control in-site notifications.
To enable a notification and let members decide whether they want to get these or not via email, the box next to that type of notification must be checked.
All notifications are displayed in a member's settings page under "Notifications", which allows members to select which notifications they would like to get via email. This setting page can be accessed by clicking on the "Settings" link in the mini navigation menu of your community.
To disable a notification, the box next to the notification must be unchecked. Disabled notifications will not send out emails to that member and will appear in the member's settings page as unchecked. The member can change this setting by checking the box and will then receive emailed notifications for this item.
When finished selecting which notifications you would like to be sent out, click the "Save Changes" button at the bottom of the page to save your changes.
